ECRC Physical Therapy has the LSVT-BIG program. Clinician Audrey Traylor, P.T. of the ECRC Physical Therapy Office in Lisbon has an exciting new certification. Audrey is now a certified clinician of the LSVT-BIG treatment approach.
LSVT-BIG is an intensive physical therapy program developed for the treatment of patients with Parkinson’s Disease, and other neurological conditions. The program was created with the idea that the brain can learn and change. This idea, also known as Neuroplasticity, is backed behind years of scientific research showing how the paths of the brain can change with different factors and behaviors. LSVT BIG focuses on using ‘bigness’ to improve movement and quality of life in patients. The treatment is designed so that, with practice, these BIG movements will help rewire the brain and alleviate symptoms of Parkinson’s and other neurological diseases.
Patients who participate in the LSVT BIG program report improvements in walking, and overall balance, strength and flexibility. “LSVT-BIG is a well researched and highly effective exercise based treatment approach producing significant positive results on tests of motor functioning.
